Overview

Convex offered a product tailored for commercial service businesses, providing data, insights, and applications to enhance sales performance. Their web application, Atlas, integrated property mapping with user-friendly tools to help sales teams identify high-potential prospects, streamline outreach, and boost revenue growth. By consolidating disparate data sources and offering a property-centric perspective, Convex enabled teams to efficiently plan, target, and engage with opportunities, optimizing their sales processes.

 

The Problem

Clients frequently asked for additional tools to help their sales reps succeed in a competitive and fast-paced sales environment. A common concern was ensuring that reps were making effective cold calls and sending impactful emails to the right leads. To support this need, I led a project to integrate AI features into the Atlas application. We introduced AI-driven enhancements directly into the call interface and email composer, giving reps real-time suggestions, personalized messaging support, and data-driven insights. These additions were designed to boost rep confidence, increase outreach quality, and ultimately improve conversion rates.

 

Talking Points

The first AI-powered feature we worked on was called Talking Points. It was designed to help sales reps feel more confident and prepared going into cold calls. Sales teams using our platform often asked for better support during outreach. They wanted quick, relevant context about the companies they were calling and guidance on what to say. To meet this need, we worked on a feature that automatically generates a brief company description and tailored talking points directly within the call interface.

The content is generated using AI models that analyze publicly available data and company-specific signals to summarize key details and suggest conversation starters. For example, reps might see a line like, “Wellfleet Industries is a regional steel manufacturer with recent expansions into clean energy infrastructure,” followed by relevant points like, “Mention sustainability initiatives” or “Ask about HVAC upgrades at their newer facility.”

The goal of this feature was to significantly reduce prep time and boost rep confidence by making each interaction more informed and personalized.

 

Email Client

Our other generative AI feature was integrated into the platform’s existing email composer. This project aimed to streamline cold outreach by helping sales reps quickly craft personalized introductory emails tailored to each target company. Reps often struggled with writer’s block or spent too much time researching and drafting emails from scratch. Our goal was to reduce that friction while maintaining relevance and professionalism.

The feature uses AI to generate a first-pass email based on contextual signals such as company size, industry, and location—data already available in the Atlas platform. With a single click, reps receive a draft that includes a brief introduction, a clear value proposition, and a relevant call-to-action. The content is editable, giving reps full control to adjust tone and details as needed.

This enhancement helped reps move faster without sacrificing quality. It lowered the barrier to starting conversations, especially for newer team members, and supported more consistent messaging across teams.
